Reindeer meat in cognac cream sauce

Reindeer meat is characterized by fine fibers and low-fat content. This veritable storehouse of vitamins recommends choosing a diet based on reindeer meat. Among the many dishes, Finnish cuisine includes traditional smoked reindeer meat, associated with vegetables or constituting ideal ingredients for soups and stews. Minced meats and canned products that can be enjoyed instantly are also very popular. Today I want to present a recipe that Finns loves and I hope will conquer you too.

Without further ado, let’s move on to the ingredient lists:

• 600 g of reindeer muscle
• 400 ml sour cream
• 40 ml cognac
• flavors for meat
• 150 g red beetroot

• 150 g carrots
• 150 g red onion
• 50 g tomato
• 50 ml balsamic vinegar
• tarragon, salt and pepper

Step 1

Cut the meat into slices of approximately 150 g, which you then fry in a pan on both sides. Add the cream, the brandy, and the spices, then bring them to a boil, over low heat.

Step 2

Separately, boil the beetroot and carrots in salted water, clean them, and cut them into slices. Cut the other vegetables as well. Simmer them a little, adding the rest of the flavors.

This dish can be served either with boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes. It is a very delicious recipe and, in my opinion, easy to make.
I am waiting for you in the comments section with your opinions if you have tried the recipe and even with suggestions for Nordic recipes.

Hyvää Vappua!
